Textile Dyeing Grade

HUB-PAK has many exciting grades. As Pakistan is a prime producer of cotton, textile is our major area of specialization. We have made it a point that the textile sector is well taken care of with new innovative grades in salt. We have been serving the textile sector for over 15 years now.In textiles, dyeing salt is used in the exhaustion of dyes into the fabric and the transferring media is salt. As Ionic force is required to transfer the dyes to the fabric, salt plays a very important role as the ionic force. If the quality of salt is not good, it gives a very bad colour exhaustion, which is visible on the fabric as un-even. HUB-PAK manufactures almost 9 different qualities for the textile dyeing industry. In the salt for dyeing, the main important factor is the hardness the salt is causing with its addition into the dye-bath, therefore the main emphasis is on maintaining the hardness in salt as low as possible. Our grades starts from a hardness of 180 ppm (50g/l) and goes right down to ZERO HARDNESS (ANY g/l) and in between having 7 other different qualities. There are certain factors, other than hardness, which are responsible for better dyeing results. Impurities also which effect the quality of the dyed fabric or yarn. The expertise in this region of salt use has made it possible at HUB-PAK to offer a complete, trouble-free use of our salt And the guarantee that any of our textile grade NaCl will never give trouble in dyeing.

Water Softening Grade

Water softening is carried out in water softeners filled with ion-exchange resins to soften the water prior to being used in the boilers and various other industrial, residential and commercial applications. As the resins are exhausted, they need to be re-generated by salt brine. Resins, along with the plant are expensive and misuse can spoil the plant or the resin. Quality of salt plays an important role in the life of the plant and resin. The water softening technicians know it well that poor quality of salt can even plug the valves and pipes besides making the resins being worn out before its stipulated time. At times, it has been observed that salt with very high residues of Sulphates have proven to be detrimental for the equipment.HUB-PAK has been serving the salt needs of this sector for a very long time. We are presently offering 5 different grades for water softening plants and all the grades are guaranteed for this application. Sulphates are maintained low, thus insuring a better and longer life for the resins and the equipment.

Khewra Salt Mines of Pakistan

Geologists put the age of rock-salt found in Khewra at about 600 million years. In geological timescale this time period is called Precambrian. It is said that discovery of rock salt in Khewra area dates back to as early as circa 326 BC. According to a legend, the army of Alexander the great was resting in Khewra area after a battle with Raja Porus. Some horses of Alexander’s army were then seen licking rock salt in the area. Somebody from Alexander’s army noted down the incident in his ledger or diary and hence?we came to know that salt was discovered?here circa 326 BC.?History is however silent?on which language this incident was recorded in (Greek?) or where is that diary now. But since those days people in the area continued to collect salt from the out crops of salt seams that were exposed at the hill surface.

It is said that the chiefs of ‘Janjua-Raja’ tribe were the first to initiate the standard mining practices here in the 13th Century. However, a chronology of the Mughal Rule in the Sub-Continent says that when the Mughals emerged supreme in the Punjab, they took over the mine from the local tribal chiefs and, thereafter, started to work on it until Punjab came under the Sikhs. Under Sikh rule the mine came up to be known as ‘Khewra Salt Mine’. The British ousted the Sikhs and annexed Punjab in 1849 and renamed the mine as the ‘May Mine’ in 1870.
